Shadow of the Sacred Mountain

Mission Start Text

According to Zuo Ci, demons have appeared once more on Mt. Tianzhushan. Many terrified residents of the hidden village speak of hearing ear-splitting screeches that send shivers down their spine and of seeing a giant shadow looming over the mountain.

The people of the village are always warm and kind; time to return the favor and rid them of this demon infestation.

Shadow of the Sacred Mountain Shitieshou Locations

There is 1 Shitieshou Demon in this mission:

• First Shitieshou Demon: After raising the second Battle Flag guarded by a Chang Gui and two Huo Shu, go down the stairs and you'll see a small wooden alcove on your left where you'll find the Shitieshou Demon.

Shadow of the Sacred Mountain Battle Flag Locations

There are 3 Battle Flags in this mission:

• First Battle Flag: Found directly in front of you when you load into the battlefield. This Battle Flag is already raised and does not give any additional Fortitude.
• Second Battle Flag: Found west of the river, up on the hill with the gazebo, across the stone bridge from the first Marking Flag. Guarded by a Chang Gui and two Huo Shu. (+3)
• Third Battle Flag: Found by following the river after encountering the Zhu Yan, right before fighting the boss. (+2)

There are 2 Marking Flags in this mission:

• First Marking Flag: Found east of the river, up the stairs, across the stone bridge from the Second Battle Flag. Guarded by three Demon Spiders. (+1)
• Second Marking Flag: Can be found two ways. From the Second Battle Flag, head down the stairs and keep following the path, breaking the bamboo on the way. Alternatively, from the Zhu Yan, look south and follow the path. Guarded by a Huo Shu. (+1)

First Battle Flag

You'll be brought back to Mt. Tianzhushan, the same area that In the Search of the Immortal Wizard takes place. Hong Jing will accompany you for this mission, both of you starting at 10 Fortitude. Your starting area will be the pond with multiple Shuigui in the last mission, and right in front of you will be the first Battle Flag.

Before you move forward, there are a few things to pick up in the pond behind you. To your left, circle around the tall stone structure to be able to climb it to the top. Jump to the next stone structure to pick up a Dragon's Cure Powder. To the right of the starting platform, climb up the cliff face to grab a Small Genuine Qi Clot. With these items looted, you can now proceed forward. 

Second Battle Flag & First Marking Flag

In the river past the first Battle Flag is an Elite Shuigui. While fighting her, be careful of aggroing the Wolf in clearing on the left side and the regular Shuigui further down the river. When you've defeated all the enemies, head to the end of the river, where you can go either left or right.

On the left side, you'll find three Huo Shu. In the bush on the rock in the middle is a Bear Gall. Head forwards and climb up to the upper section to get to the gazebo. Here, you'll have to fight two Huo Shu and a Chang Gui. In the gazebo are three Rank 3 Steel. To the north, you'll find the second Battle Flag providing 3 Fortitude. Head down curving stairs near the gazebo and you'll find the Shitieshou in an alcove on the left. After you've interacted with it, head back up to the gazebo.

Head east onto the stone bridge and pick up the Detox Jerky on the ground. Across the bridge are three Demon Spiders and the first Marking Flag. On the far east side of the area, you'll find a Genuine Qi Fragment below a raised ledge. If you head down the stairs on the southern side, you'll find a Small Genuine Qi Clot and be back where you were earlier at the split at the end of the river.

Back at the base of the stairs, look to the right and break the bamboo. There are two Huo Shu in the area and a chest with an Elixir in it at the end. Go back up the stairs towards the Marking Flag. Down the slope on the northern side is an item you can pick up on the ground. At the split, don't go right through the breakable bamboo just yet as that leads to the boss of the level.

Third Battle Flag & Second Marking Flag

Continue to the left path instead and you'll encounter a Wolf and a Huo Shu. On this side of the river is a piece of equipment you can pick up from the ground. Fight the Zhu Yan on the river, but don't go too far up the river fighting it, as you'll get to the boss that way. 

Cross the river to the other side and follow the road to get the the second Marking Flag guarded by a Huo Shu. If you continue up this road, breaking the bamboo in the way, you can find a chest guarded by three Demon Spiders. Heading further down this path takes you backup to the gazebo. Instead, turn around and head back to the river.

Follow the river away from the stone bridge and you'll get to the third Battle Flag providing 2 Fortitude. Prepare and buff yourself for the fight as ahead; you'll be facing the boss next.

Boss: Suan Yu

After you take a few steps ahead of the Battle Flag, Suan Yu will descend from above and the boss fight will start without warning. The boss begins with 17 Morale, which then drops by one at around half health. Be careful of it's lightning attacks if fighting from ranged. Melee players should use every opportunity to hit it while it's grounded. Learn more about it and how to beat it by reading it's individual page. 

At half health, Suan Yu gains access to more lightning attacks, but other than that this boss does not have any boss phases. Once it's been defeated, you'll be rewarded with a Wooden Poled Spear among other items. Returning to the Undominated Main Battlefield from here introduces you to Cao Cao and Yuan Shao, and instantly takes you to the next quest - Fall of the Corrupted Eunuch.
