Hidden Village Guide for Wo Long: Fallen Dynasty
How to unlock the Hidden Village in Wo Long: Fallen Dynasty
The Hidden Village is first visited early in the game, after completing the main mission "The Demon Fort of the Yellow Heaven". At the end of the mission, Hong Jing asks the protagonist to return with her to the village to report to her master, Zuo Ci, after recognizing the potential threat that the Taoist in Black could bring. The Hidden Village is then unlocked thereafter, allowing you to travel to it from any Battle Flag or at the completion of any mission.
Wo Long: Fallen Dynasty Hidden Village Description
The Hidden Village is located on Mt. Tianzhushan and is divided into multiple mountain spires, connected via bridges made up of vines and overgrowth.
While the village can be tricky to navigate — requiring you to perform some platforming to reach some of the spires or various ledges — there are no consequences for falling off the edges. You will not lose health while in the Hidden Village and you will simply respawn from where you fell.
The largest spire contains the village's Battle Flag, from which you will spawn every time you enter the village. You can use all the standard Battle Flag features in the Hidden Village, including leveling up, changing equipment and initiating Missions. Behind this flag is the village elder's hut, which is initially locked but opens up after completing the next main mission "In Search of the Immortal Wizard".
The Hidden Village is home to many Hermits of Tianzhu, but you will also find some of your allies here as you make progress in Missions. Certain interactions with these NPCs at the village can provide you with rewards, unlock features, quests or other resources, so be sure to check the village every now and then.

See her section below for details on how to complete it. - Unlock the house's front door to find a pair of Bronze Dual Swords on the ground.
- Speak to the Hermit once more and she will tell you that she seems to have lost the key to the backyard as well.
- Find the Toaist's Backyard Key in the main mission "War's Flames Blaze Fiercely":
- Make your way through the mission until you come across the Fifth Marking Flag in the large water-logged chamber that you enter through a dragon statue's mouth, with many Shuigui mermaids. In this same chamber, check the smaller rooms on the sides. One of them contains the Toaist's Backyard Key.
- Return the Taoist's Backyard Key to the Hermit.
- Unlock the backdoor to her house and you will find three locked chests. To unlock them, you will need to give certain items to the Hermit and she will have the Blacksmith craft Zhu Xia's Handmade Key. You will need three keys in total to unlock all chests. You will need to hand in the following items to get each key:
- Fire Pot x1
- Anti-Freeze Soil x1
- Mystic Crane x1
- If you don't already have these items, they can be purchased from Zuo Ci in exchange for some accolades.

Shitieshou Lover
The Shitieshou Lover is a Hermit of Tianzhu who has a soft spot for the panda-like Shitieshou Demons. On one of his excursions outside the village in search of these creatures, he was captured and locked up in the dungeons of Luoyang. He returns to the village after being rescued. He was a former hunter who unwittingly took the lives of one of these bears and its cubs, and has since then reformed into one of their biggest admirers. Refusing to refer to the peaceful bears as "Demons", the Shitieshou Lover dreams of one day turning the Hidden Village into a haven for these creatures and implores you to treat them kindly when you encounter them on your journey.
Note: This Hermit does not appear in the village until he is rescued.
Shitieshou Lover Mini-Quest Guide
- The Shitieshou Lover can be rescued during the main mission "Fall of the Corrupted Eunuch".
- He is found in a locked cell in the upper levels of the large dungeon area found very early in the mission. After dropping down the ledge behind the First Battle Flag, turn left and down the stairs. The hermit will be found in the first locked cell on the left. You will need to locate the Luoyang Dungeon Keys in order to free him.
- To find the key, drop down to the lowest level of the dungeon where the Second Battle Flag of the mission can be found, guarded by several Shuigui mermaids. Facing the flag, look for a large, open cell on the right side with several Demonized Fanatics laying inside. The Luoyang Dungeon Keys can be found in this cell.
- Return to the Hermit's cell. There are multiple ways to get back up to the upper floor. Unlock his cell and interact with him. He will return to the Hidden Village on his own after you complete this mission.
- On your next visit to the village, you can find the Shitieshou Lover by crossing the vine bridge to the left of Zuo Ci's house (when facing his house). He will tell all about how he came to love the creatures known as the Shitieshou Demons.
The Shitieshou are panda-like demons that you can encounter on various missions. They pose no threat and simply live to eat various types of metal. They are often found in unusual spots in Missions. Upon encountering a Shitieshou, you can drop a Weapon or piece of Armor in front of it and the bear will consume the item, giving you a random Accessory in return. Furthermore, after finding and feeding them in missions, they will follow you back to the Hidden Village and will reside where the Shitieshou Lover is found.
See the Shitieshou Demon page for the locations of each Shitieshou in the game.

The Expert Brewer is a female Hermit of Tianzhu who is often working on creating various liquors and is looking for various exotic ingredients she can infuse into her craft. Her husband is very proud of her work but is often at his wit's end trying to find the various ingredients she needs. Both Hermits can be found at their brewing stall, reached by crossing the two vine bridges directly to the left of the Concerned Wife.
Expert Brewer & The Brewer's Husband Mini-Quest Guide
This questline involves speaking to the Expert Brewer in order to learn what ingredient she is looking for, and then looking for her husband on various Missions where he attempts (and fails) to find said ingredients. In order to progress the quest, you must hand the ingredients over to the husband in the specific missions that he appears in. You cannot hand them in at the Hidden Village, as he wishes to keep your aid in finding the ingredients a secret in order to impress his wife.
Each phase of the quest will have the Expert Brewer looking for a different item. The first is a Detox Jerky, and then an Oil of Awakening, and finally a Sacred Lotus. The Detox Jerky and Oil of Awakening can be purchased from Zuo Ci in exchange for Accolades, while the Sacred Lotus can be found in certain missions. Some missions with Sacred Lotuses as loot are as follows:
- The Brewer's Husband will be looking for a Detox Jerky in the sub mission "The Lost Sacred Artifact":
- As soon as the mission starts, turn around and jump up the ledge. Hug the wall and follow it to find the Hermit in the corner. Exhause his dialogue to get the prompt to give him the Detox Jerky.

Golden Cicada Fanatic
The Golden Cicada Fanatic is a Hermit of Tianzhu who believes that the secret to immortality lies with the rare Golden Cicada insects. He is a former merchant who still has a hoard of his goods, willing to trade them in exchange for Golden Cicada Shells. This Hermit can be found gazing at the sky at the top of a tall tower in the Hidden Village. To get to him, cross the long vine to the left of the Battle Flag and then cross the vine behind the Concerned Wife hermit. In the next area, turn to your left to find the tower. Climb the tower by using the vines wrapping around it.
Golden Cicada Fanatic Mini-Quest Guide
The Golden Cicada Fanatic's quest involves collecting Golden Cicada Shells and returning them to him. Golden Cicada Shells are the shed husks of a rare insect. They can be found in many Missions, often hidden or off the beaten path. They are Key Items which have a brighter, more yellow glow compared to standard loot found on the ground, but is otherwise indistinguishable from other Key Item-type loot, so you will often need to search every nook and cranny to find these elusive items.
See the Golden Cicada Shell page for locations of where to find them. Note that there is one shell inside the ground floor of the tower where the Hermit is found on.
The Golden Cicada Fanatic will reward you with a weapon after giving him 5, 10 and 15 Golden Cicada Shells. These are cumulative and you do not need to hand them in all at once. The rewards appear to be randomized. The Hermit will, amusingly, turn more and more deranged after giving him the shells, eventually laughing maniacally when you interact with him and displaying his full-blown obsession.
Scholar Hermit
A Hermit of Tianzhu who can be found inside a hut full of scrolls and tablets between the Locked-Out Taoist and the Concerned Wife hermits. She does not appear to have a questline, but will reward the player for every 5 items given to read. She will award the player with 3 x Cup of Cordiality after receiving 15 items to read. At some point in the story she also gives the player 2 x Small Genuine Qi Crystal.
