The Scarlet Crystal

The Scarlet Crystal is a Sub Mission in Wo Long: Fallen Dynasty. This mission is recommended for level 76. The Scarlet Crystal involves a friendly duel against Hong Jing, at her request to test her mettle and become a stronger warrior capable of fulfilling her brother's wish. Mission Start Text

To fulfill her late brother's wish of creating a world free from the malice of the Elixir, Hong Jing has decided that she must become strong like the almighty Xiezhi.

Having been by her side through countless hardships, her unshakable resolve is clear to see—refusing her request to test her mettle is not an option.

Battle Preparations

You begin the mission in the training area, with the mission's only Battle Flag right behind you. Your Fortitude Rank is automatically set to 20 from the start. This mission involves a friendly duel with Hong Jing who wishes to test her mettle against you. You will want to equip weapons with Martial Arts skills that allow you to quickly close the distance. Additionally, the Aqua Blink spell can prove beneficial for this fight.

Boss: Hong Jing

Hong Jing wields a staff and prefers to fight at range with Wizardry Spells. She will take every opportunity to disengage from melee range and cast her spells from a distance. The spells she casts during this fight include Surging Blaze which releases a multiple fireball projectiles in a cone, dealing more damage the closer you are to her, as well as Lightning Rush which sends a pillar of lighting traveling forward.

Hong Jing will also use a Fatal Strike in which she twirls her staff on one side, and then on the other before performing a powerful strike. This move deals a lot of damage if it connects cleanly. Another Fatal Strike she uses is when she pole vaults off the ground with her staff and performs a strike as she comes down.

The key to defeating Hong Jing is keeping close to her and interrupting her spell casts. She is always open as she channels these spells and if you are quick enough and have a good way to close the distance, she will essentially be left unable to cast. It is also beneficial to push her against the edges of the arena where she cannot reliably disengage from you. Whenever you see a red glow, prepare to dodge away from her Fatal Strike or deflect and counter them.

Hong Jing can drop pieces of the Tianzhu Hermit Set which is the armor she is wearing, as well as her Jade-Green Staff. Speak to her after the fight to end the mission. You will also receive the following completion rewards:
