Mission Start Text

"With Fan City across the water to the North, and having easy access in all directions, control of Xiangyang is essential to any warlord looking to conquer the land. The policies of the inspector of Jing Province Liu Biao brought about its rapid economic and cultural development, and as trading vessels were kept safe by the provincial fleet, the city became something of a haven. Liu Bao built a tall pavilion outside the city where he secretly offered tributes to the havens. Called Jingsheng Pavilion after his courtesy name, it may have hinted at his greater ambitions"

• The Shitieshou Demon of this area is located in front of the fifth Battle Flag inside a broken-down house.

Darkness Over the Hanshui River Dragon's Cure Pot Upgrades Locations

• It can be located in a house in front of the Battle Flag near the temple of the Boss Fight. Climb the 2nd floor of the house and open the chest that you see there.

Darkness Over the Hanshui River Battle Flag Locations

There are 5 Battle Flags to be found in Darkness Over the Hanshui River:

• First Battle Flag: The first Battle Flag has already been raised and is unmissable. Continue on to the next flags.
• Second Battle Flag: From the spawn point, turn left. You'll see a small dock with a boat. Kick the log to the right and immediately jump to the moving boat. The boat will take you to the other half of the bridge earlier going to a big wrecked ship. Once you board the ship, you'll have to take out 4 enemies inside to completely clear the ship. Once taken out, surprise attack the Shuigui below and continue. You'll eventually reach a mini tower with a ranged enemy on top, so take the enemy out. After taking that enemy out, a Big creature-like enemy will appear. This enemy is a bit tanky, so it's going to take a bit of effort to take it down. Once the enemy is defeated, just look to your left, and you'll see the second Battle Flag that you can raise. (+1 Fortitude)
• Third Battle Flag: You'll find this Battle Flag at the Mid-Section of the Shipwreck. (+1 Fortitude)
• Fourth Battle Flag: Just in the opposite side of the fifth Marking Flag is where the Battle Flag is. (+1 Fortitude)
• Fifth Battle Flag: After taking out the distracted ranged enemy, you'll see the Battle Flag guarded by multiple enemies below. (+1 Fortitude)
• Sixth Battle Flag: Once you defeat the enemies, turn right and look for a small boat attached to a log. Kick the log off and immediately jump on the small boat before it starts moving. Wait until the boat stops then jump on the other side. This is where you'll find the sixth and final Battle Flag. (+1 Fortitude)

Darkness Over the Hanshui River Marking Flag Locations

There are 8 Marking Flags to be found in Darkness Over the Hanshui River:

• First Marking Flag: You'll find this Marking Flag at the Mid-Section of another Shipwreck. (+1 Fortitude)
• Second Marking Flag:  Bottom part of another Shipwreck containing a ladder going up. (+1 Fortitude)
• Third Marking Flag:  Board the ship next to the boat earlier, and just at the upper level will be the Third Marking Flag. (+1 Fortitude)
• Fourth Marking Flag: Go to the left side of the front of the temple first and take a peek at the bottom. You'll find a big enemy guarding the fourth Marking Flag. (+1 Fortitude)
• Fifth Marking Flag: Upon entering the temple, climb the ladder going up and turn right once you get to the top.(+1 Fortitude)
• Sixth Marking Flag: Just to the right of the Fourth Battle Flag, you'll see some platforms that you can climb. Climb the platforms and get to the other side of the area. (+1 Fortitude)
• Seventh Marking Flag: To the right of the Fifth Battle Flag is the path that you need to go through. Once you get to the end of the path, turn left to enter the village and go straight. (+1 Fortitude)
• Eighth Marking Flag: Once you defeat the enemies, climb the roof of the house by the entrance of the village and make your way to the left side until you see a balcony. This is where the Eighth and final Marking Flag is. (+1 Fortitude)

 

Darkness Over the Hanshui River Walkthrough

First Battle Flag

The first Battle Flag has already been raised and is unmissable. Continue on to the next flags.

Second Battle Flag

From the spawn point, head straight to the bridge ahead. There will be one Demonized Fanatic guarding it be prepared to take it out while crossing the bridge. After defeating the enemy, head back until you reach land and turn left. You'll encounter a Demonized Soldier and a Shuigui. After defeating the enemies, you'll see a small dock with a boat. Kick the log to the right and immediately jump to the moving boat. The boat will take you to the other half of the bridge earlier going to a big wrecked ship. Once you board the ship, you'll have to take out 4 enemies inside to completely clear the ship. Once taken out, surprise attack the Shuigui below and continue. You'll eventually reach a mini tower with a ranged Demonized Warlock on top, so take it out. After taking that enemy out, a Zhupolong will appear. This enemy is a bit tanky, so it's going to take a bit of effort to take it down. Once the enemy is defeated, just look to your left, and you'll see the second Battle Flag that you can raise.

Third Battle Flag

Once you're done raising the second Battle Flag, head over to the next shipwreck and enter through the hole on the bottom of the ship. You'll encounter two Shuigui inside, so make sure to take them out. Afterward, you'll see a ladder nearby that you can climb to proceed further to the area. Once up, you'll encounter a Demonized Officer that you need to take out to proceed further. Once defeated, go up the stairs near and you'll encounter another one of those big enemies along with two normal enemies which you need to take out as well. Try to sneak up behind them to deal heavy damage and to give you an advantage. Lastly, up another level is a Demonized Warlock doing a ritual, it's pretty easy to sneak up behind it and take it out. Now, go back to the floor where you fought off the two big enemies and go down the ladder where you took out the 2nd Demon Officer. This is where you'll find the Third Battle Flag to raise it.

First Marking Flag

From the third Battle Flag, head right and you'll see a path going down. Head for that path and take out the enemies along the way. You'll eventually find a small boat that you can kick the log off to make it move, so after making it move, move towards another wrecked ship and take out the Demoized Officer, the Shuigui, and the Demonized Warlock guarding it. After clearing the area, head to the mid-section of the wrecked ship, and there, you'll find the first Marking Flag that you can raise.

Second Marking Flag

From the first Marking Flag, head down the wrecked ship and move towards the platforms going up. Just before you start, moving up, a Zhupolong will appear again to ambush you. If you're lucky enough, that creature will spawn next to the ledge of a dock which makes it prone to falling off into the water causing instant death. Once defeated, head over to the platforms going up, and you'll find yourself in another wrecked ship guarded by a Demonized Officer and some normal enemies. Once the ship is cleared, immediately head to the lowest part of the ship to gain access to a door containing a ladder. Climb up the ladder and you'll find the second Marking Flag that you can raise.

Third Marking Flag

After raising the Second Marking Flag, head out through the door just beside the flag and take the wooden walkway upfront and drop down to the lower wooden path. A big Demonized Officer will be guarding the path so be prepared to attack it from the back to deal big damage. While attacking the enemy, a Warlock enemy will be dealing ranged attacks to you from a distant wrecked ship, so once you take out the big enemy, switch to a ranged weapon and take out the warlock. Once defeated, go to a ship to your right but be cautious of an enemy inside the ship. Once cleared, a Big Enemy will spawn out of nowhere, so take it out immediately. In the Mid Section of the shipwreck, you'll find a broken wall that you can go through to gain access to a wooden path. Jump on it and continue through the path. You'll encounter a Warlock enemy and a normal enemy along the path. Once cleared, just follow the mission arrow on your map until you reach the next obstacle. You'll eventually encounter another pair of enemies to clear out to access a boat attached to a log that you need to kick off. Afterward, board the ship next to the boat earlier, and just at the upper level will be the Third Marking Flag.

Fourth Marking Flag

From the Third Marking Flag, head back down to where you entered the wrecked ship and keep running straight. Instead of taking the lower path, take the upper path and keep heading straight until you see a big staircase leading to a big house. The staircase will be guarded by a Warlock so take it out while going up, and eventually a bird-like creature will spawn. After defeating the enemies at the top of the staircase, go to the left side of the front of the temple first and take a peek at the bottom. You'll find a big enemy guarding the fourth Marking Flag. The fastest way to take the enemy out is to attack it from above where you're currently standing. After defeating the enemy, you can now raise the fourth Marking Flag.

Fifth Marking Flag

Just before entering the temple again, an enemy named Huang Zu will spawn from outside to attack you. Take out this enemy first before proceeding any further. After defeating Huang Zu, climb up the staircase again and enter the temple through the double doors. You'll see a ladder immediately as you enter, so climb up. Upon reaching the top, turn right and head straight for the fifth Marking Flag.

Fourth Battle Flag

In the opposite direction of the fifth Marking Flag, head straight and you'll find the fourth Battle Flag you can raise.

Fifth Battle Flag

After raising the fourth Battle Flag, turn right and drop down from the ledge. You'll encounter one of the big enemies again so be prepared to take it out once you drop down. Once defeated, go straight ahead until you encounter two Shuigui and a couple of ranged enemies that you need to defeat as well. Afterward, climb up the roof and turn right from where you defeated the ranged enemies from earlier until you see a hole in one of the walls of the house from the roof. Enter and you'll come across one distracted ranged enemy that you can easily defeat. From here, you'll see a horde of enemies and 1 big enemy guarding the fifth Battle Flag. Drop down from the house and defeat the enemies. Doing so will allow you to safely raise the fourth Fifth Battle Flag.

Shitieshou Demon

Before you move any further, take note that just in front of the Battle flag is a broken-down house, and a bit to the right is an entrance to it. Inside, you will find the Shitieshou Demon of this area.

Sixth Marking Flag

Just to the right of the fifth Battle Flag, you'll see some platforms that you can climb. Climb the platforms and get to the other side of the area. You'll encounter one of the bird-like creatures guarding a Marking Flag placement. Defeat it to raise the third Marking Flag.

Sixth Battle Flag

To the left of the Third Marking Flag is a double door that you can open and go through. Be prepared though, because there will be a couple of enemies and 2 big enemies on the other side once opened. Once you defeat the enemies, turn right and look for a small boat attached to a log. Kick the log off and immediately jump on the small boat before it starts moving. Wait until the boat stops then jump on the other side. This is where you'll find the sixth and final Battle Flag.

Seventh Marking Flag

To the right of the sixth Battle Flag is the path that you need to go through. Once you get to the end of the path, turn left to enter the village and you'll encounter 2 Warlock enemies and 1 Big enemy. Once you take them out, you'll see a Marking Flag Placement to raise the Seventh Marking Flag.

Eighth Marking Flag

After raising the Seventh Marking Flag, head to the left side of the area following the Mission arrow on your map. You'll encounter some enemies along the way like a ranged enemy and a Shuigui. Once you reach a broken wall that can be entered. Be very careful when entering because a Big creature will suddenly spawn in to ambush you. take it down along with the other enemies in the zone. Once cleared, turn left first and exit the double doors. You'll find yourself back at the sixth Battle Flag. Continue to the small boat that brought you to that area early on and jump slightly to the right side. Continue moving forward until you enter a village with some enemies and a Shuigui. Once you defeat the enemies, climb the roof of the house by the entrance of the village and make your way to the left side until you see a balcony. This is where the Eighth and final Marking Flag is.

Boss: Sun Jian

From the final Marking Flag, head back to the fifth Battle Flag and go through the double doors to its left. Head straight for the temple ahead and go through its double doors. A cutscene will play out where Sun Jian becomes a Tiger-like demon making him the Boss fight of this mission. Sun Jian (Boss)

Face Sun Jian in its demon tiger form. Please refer to the Sun Jian (Boss) page to learn more about it. It drops Vicious Tiger Gauntlets, Vicious Tiger Armor, Vicious Tiger Helmet, and Guding Blade. A cutscene will play out after defeating the boss.
