Thrown Weapons or Throwing Weapons are one of three major categories of Weapons in Wo Long: Fallen Dynasty. Weapons are pieces of offensive equipment that can be equipped by the player character and Throwing Weapons can be used to deal damage to Enemies and Bosses from afar, supplementing and making up for the lack of range on Melee Weapons. Unlike the other two weapon categories, Thrown Weapons do not offer any stats and are simply used as tools for dealing quick damage from a distance and with some added utility.
- Note that the information listed below is taken from the Limited-Time Demo. Certain mechanics are yet to be revealed and existing ones are subject to change for the full release.
Wo Long: Fallen Dynasty Thrown Weapon Mechanics Overview
Unlike Melee Weapons and Ranged Weapons, Thrown Weapons do not offer any stats when equipped nor do they come with any Special Effects or Weapon Traits. In essence, they are Offensive Consumable Items that have their own dedicated slot for use in combat. Thrown Weapons are not affected by Virtue Scaling but may be affected by certain things such as buffs or Special Effects on other equipment that improve Thrown Weapon Damage. Furthermore, Thrown Weapons may provide additional utility such as debuffing targets, dealing damage in a wide area, or causing damage-over-time effects.
Weapon Rarity
As with all Items and Equipment in Wo Long: Fallen Dynasty, Thrown Weapons come with varying Rarity, a stat denoted by a Star Rating as follows:
✮ - Common
✮✮ - Rare
✮✮✮ - Epic
✮✮✮✮ - Legendary
It is currently unknown how Rarity affects Thrown Weapons. We will update this page as more information becomes available.
*Note that actual in-game Rarity rankings do not have the common, rare, epic or legendary denotations and these are simply terms commonly used in other titles
Thrown Weapon Usage, Consumption and On-the-Fly Weapon Switching
Thrown Weapons can be utilized much like Ranged Weapons by holding L2 (Playstation) / RT (Xbox) to aim and pressing R2 (Playstation) / RT (Xbox) to throw. These weapons can be useful for getting the jump on distant, unaware enemies or breaking up large groups by taking out key targets before they become aware of your presence. Aiming for an enemy's Critical Hit Zone will deal increased damage. This zone will vary depending on the enemy type but is typically the head for humanoid opponents. Thrown Weapons all allow for free movement while aiming.
Thrown Weapons are consumable and you will not be able to use them after running out. However, they are not de-equipped from your character upon depletion and collecting more of your curently equipped Thrown Weapons will allow you to use them again without having to re-equip them.
Players can equip up to two sets of Thrown Weapons at once and freely switch between them even in the middle of combat. Your currently equipped Ranged Weapons and Thrown Weapons can be cycled through by pressing R2 + Left or Right on the D-Pad (Playstation) / RT + Left or Right on the D-Pad (Xbox).

Deals damage to an enemy when thrown. | Throwing knives were common not only in Zhongyuan, but also among the surrounding tribes, and they sometimes held contests to test their skills. It is said that the wife of the king of a barbarian tribe to the southwest of Zhongyuan was an expert in throwing knives and would never miss her target. |
|
Deals damage to an enemy when thrown. Also causes Poison to accumulate. | Poisoned knives were not considered fit for military use. Using them against beasts was considered acceptable, but using one against a human opponent was considered extremely immoral and shameful for a warrior. |

Throw this to disperse flammable liquid that will set a large area ablaze and deal Flame damage to anyone in contact with it. | This pot contains a liquid oil that burns intensely. Today this is suspected to be crude oil, but at the time it was referred to as flammable water, and was said to remain ablaze even on the surface of water and require great effort to extinguish. |

Deals damage to an enemy by firing it from a bow. | An arrow is made up of an arrowhead, a shaft and the fletching. It is placed against the bowstring and uses its elasticity to be shot out. It may look simple, but the quality of an arrow depends heavily on the weight balance and how well it is crafted. In particular, the fletching is important as it causes the arrow to spin, stabilizing the flight while increasing its penetrating power. |
|
Deals damage to an enemy by firing it from a crossbow. | These metal bolts have triangular heads and their penetrating power is exceptional. Each part of the bolt is made thick and sturdy to maximize the penetration. |
|
Deals damage to an enemy by firing it from a repeating crossbow. | These bolts are shorter than those of regular crossbows, and do not have a fletching. Repeating crossbows prioritize the number of rounds over range, and are best suited for facing multiple enemies at a relatively short distance. |
Arrows and bolts are not thrown weapons and don't contribute to the title Master of Throwing Weapons.
