Zhao Yun's Exile
Mission Start Text
During his conflict against Yuan Shao, Gongsun Zan took revenge on the wise Minister of Wars and reclaimed the Elixir that the minister had intended to destroy for the good of the world. The demons spawned from that eerie light further stoked the fires of war that burned in the Hebei region.
Zhao Yun deserted Gonsun Zan after no longer being able to bear witness to the unfolding horrors. He cuts a blood soaked path through the pursuing demons and makes his way to Mt. Dongshan, seemly driven by fate.

Zhao Yun's Exile Walkthrough
Reunited with Zhao Yun
You begin the mission being reunited with Zhao Yun. Having deserted from Gongsun Zan who has now become his enemy, Zhao Yun asks for your aid and joins you as your companion. Your Morale and Fortitude are set to 12 at the start of this mission. The First Battle Flag is available right at the start if you wish to change your setup.
From the flag, follow the path through the gates and you will come across a large, open area with a brazier on a hill. As you enter this place, several undead soldiers will spawn. The majority of these are just the rank-and-file Demonized Fanatics and Demonized Soldiers but watch out for the Demonized Warlock in the distance who will pelt you with magic spells and a powerful demonic slam with their staff if you get too close. There is also one Demonized Officer with a warhammer that you should be able to make quick work of with Zhao Yun once all other enemies are defeated.
Marking Flag 1, Battle Flag 2
After defeating all the enemies, drop down the ledge to the left of the brazier and follow the path to a dead end where you will find the First Marking Flag post sitting on a ledge. Make your way back to the brazier where the Second Battle Flag post will have spawned right next to the gateway to the next area.
Demons and Zhuyan Encounter
In the next area, you will encounter a small Huo Shu hedgehog demon along with several warlocks. Watch out for the Huo Shu's rolling attack and be vigilant with sidestepping. Take out the warlocks early, especially the ones on the wooden perches on the sides of the area.
After clearing the first set of enemies, a Zhu Yan ape demon will spawn, along with another set of warlocks. Watch out for the warlocks' fireball attacks which leave hazardous AoEs on the ground and can disrupt you while fighting the Zhu Yan.
Once all enemies are defeated, drop down to the area below and turn around towards the left side to find the Second Marking Flag just behind some crates. Go back to the front of the lower area where you will find the Third Battle Flag of the mission, just next to the gateway to the final area.
Final Encounter: Demonic Tigers and Crane
Follow the linear path forward and you will arrive at a large, spacious area with some huts and scarecrows strewn about. As you walk through the area, a pair of Chang Gui demonic tigers will spawn. Beware their leaping strikes and slow, but powerful lunge attacks, as well as their Fatal Strikes. Luckily, having Zhao Yun with you will likely allow you to focus on one tiger at a time while he distracts the other. However, do beware that once one of these tigers is killed, a Suan Yu demonic crane will fly into the battlefield, serving as the final encounter. You can make the fight a bit easier by evenly depleting both tigers' health so you can quickly kill them simultaneously and then focus on the Suan Yu thereafter.
While not strictly a Boss in this mission, the Suan Yu can still prove a formidable opponent. Its most dangerous attack is when it leaps a short distance above ground, whipping its head sideways before following it up with a leaping stomp with its talons. Getting hit by this combo will deal a significant amount of spirit damage, leaving you stunned and open to one of its other attacks. The crane will also use a double swipe, using its long neck to swing at you from side to side as its most prominent attack. Periodically, it will leap backwards and unleash three pillars of lightning which travel outwards from it, in a fan pattern. Simply keep your distance when it leaps backwards in order to easily sidestep the pillars. If caught at melee range, you can dodge to the back of the crane to avoid the attack entirely. It will sometimes perform a linear lightning breath that is easily sidestepped, but comes out really fast.
After defeating the crane, Zhao Yun will exchange some words and the mission will end. First completion awards the following:
- White Horse General Helmet x 1
- White Horse General Armor x 1
- White Horse General Gauntlets x 1
- White Horse General Greaves x 1
