Wo Long: Fallen Dynasty Yan Liang & Wen Chou Lore

Yan Liang served under Yuan Shao from a young age, spending his days training vigorously with his sworn brother Wen Chou, and eventually became a renowned warrior in Yuan Shao's army. Despite being widely praised for his outstanding bravery, he was often condemned by his peers for being short-tempered, close-minded, and imprudent. Formerly human, he elected to use Elixir on himself to further aid Yuan Shao in his quest for absolute power. He served Yuan Shao dutifully even after becoming a demon and slayed countless enemy soldiers. He achieved such mastery of his curved blade that his attacks are practically invisible to the untrained human eye.

Wen Chou served under Yuan Shao from a young age, spending his days training vigorously with his sworn brother Yan Liang, and eventually became a renowned warrior in Yuan Shao's army. His imposing six—foot frame and heavily muscled build nearly allowed him to defeat Gongsun Zan at the Battle of lieqiao. Formerly human, he elected to use the Elixir on himself to further aid Yuan Shao in his quest for absolute power. He served Yuan Shao dutifully even after becoming a demon and slayed countless enemy soldiers. A single strike of his bone—crushing hammer would raze any and every foe who dared to stand before him.

They fought together at the strategic point of Baima in the Battle of Guandu. In their demonized forms, the two were unrivaled in strength and turned Cao Cao's army into a mountain of corpses. Realizing the threat they posed, Cao Cao deployed two of his most trusted warriors, Guan Yu and the protagonist. Yan Liang, concealed in fog, waited to ambush Cao Cao's champions, but was defeated by a single strike from Guan Yu. Afterward, Wen Chou injected him with Elixir, bringing him back to life. Together they faced off against Guan Yu and the protagonist but were defeated, despite giving their all in the fight.

The Best Wizardry SpellsMartial Arts and more for Yan Liang:

  • Yan Liang is Fire-type enemy, therefore prepare Water-related spells.
  • Additionally, Elemental Plague + Lightning Weapon combo can be put to good use, especially to chip down his Spirit.

Strategy

This is a duo boss fight against the brothers Yan Liang, who is the slender demon wielding a blade and walks on all fours, and Wen Chou, the larger of the two, wielding a warhammer. Each boss has his own health bar and the most important note for this battle is that you must deplete their health bars at the same time. After killing one brother, you must defeat the other within about 10 seconds or else he will resurrect the dead one with 50% HP.

Yan Liang will often perform his basic 3-hit combo of a heavy wide swing to the left, and then to the right followed by an overhead slash. While this attack is slow, it can be tricky to dodge so watch your timing. However, once he initiates the combo, he will continue it to the end so you can take advantage of this by keeping to his backside and attacking when you have an opening. He is also very vulnerable after the last hit. He will sometimes hold both ends of his sword and smash it on the ground in front of him. This attack does not have much range but hits in a wide area, so dodge backwards.

Yan Liang will sometimes leap backwards, holding his sword in his mouth and then slash forcibly, with his blade extending by a hidden chain in the pommel. This attack has a incredibly large arc and long range so you will need to dodge through the swing. If successful, you can attack him during the recovery. Periodically, he will leap high into the air and toss his chain blade at you and then follow up with a dive bomb. You can deflect and counter the dive bomb for huge Spirit damage.

Yan Liang Attacks & Counters

Stay away from Wen Chou during the spinning portion of the attack and prepare to deflect Yan Liang as he flies towards you. If successful, this deals a huge amount of Spirit Damage. With proper timing player can launch Yan Liang into Wen Chou for even more Spirit Damage (very precise timing is required).
Alternatively, use Poison Throwing Knifes to inflict Metal debuff on Wen Chou and watch Yan Liang little accident.
Yan Liang's Heavy Landing  Yan Liang leaps high into the air and tosses his chain blade at you. He will then follow up with a dive bomb. Deflect and counter the dive bomb for huge Spirit damage.
Yan Liang's Wisdom  Yan Liang spins on his hands 3 times. Attack looks very similar to Monkey's Wisdom. Deflect for huge Spirit damage.
Regular attacks
Resurrect When either brother is killed, the surviving brother will inject them with Elixir after about 10 seconds, returning them to life with 50% HP. Both brothers spawns with Morale is increased by 3 from base, in case of Yan Liang weapon is buffed with Fire. Keep both Boss' HP around the same level throughout the fight and defeat them within ~10 seconds of each other.
Buff When resurrected, his weapon is buffed to deal Fire Damage. Additionally, a minor Wood-related buff is applied.  Use Water-related spell to dispell the buff.
Standard Blade Combo Yan Liang performs a heavy wide swing to the left with this blade and then another to the right followed by an overhead slash. Dodge through the first slash and move to his back. The combo has poor tracking and once he initiates the combo, he will continue it to completion in the same general direction, allowing you to attack him from the back. Alternatively, you can deflect the final blow for a good amount of Spirit damage.
Sword Smash Yan Liang holds both ends of his sword and smashes it on the ground in front of him. Dodge backwards. The attack does not have much forward range but does hit in a wide area.
Chain Blade Slash Yan Liang leaps backwards while holding his sword in his mouth. He then slashes forcibly, with his blade extending by a hidden chain in the pommel. This attack has an incredibly large arc and long forward range. Dodge through the slash and attack him during the recovery.

He will typically perform two horizontal swings from either side to the other. Sometimes, he will follow up with a vertical smash or perform two vertical smashes in a row. He also has a Critical Blow which starts off with a heavy overhead smash followed by two somersault smashes. If you deflect the first strike, you will stop the rest of the combo and deal huge Spirit damage.
