Wo Long: Fallen Dynasty Sun Jian Lore Information
Sun Jian from Fuchun County, Wu Commandery, also known by the courtesy name Wentai, is a warlord serving in the final days of the Han Empire.
When he was young, Sun Jian gained fame and was made an officer after wiping out a band of pirates in his hometown. Thereafter, he traveled the land and participated in numerous battles, with the ferocity of his fighting and strength of his forces securing his status as a warlord, known as "Tiger of Jiangdong." His background is a mystery, with the man himself claiming that the Sun family has served in Wu Commandary for many generations, and some speculating that he descends from Sun Tzu, author of The Art of War. It is in fact the Sun lineage from which Sun Jian derives his strength-even without elixir, he wields Qi masterfully and can take on demons toe-to-toe.
Sun Jian mobilized his forces in Jiangdong to deal with the Yellow Turban Rebellion being incited by the Taiping Taoism. Fighting under the imperial army, he claimed victories at Runan and Yingchuan before arriving at a final confrontation with Zhang Jiao, General of Heaven at the Yellow Turban lair in Guangzong, Ji Province. Together with Cao Cao, he was attempting to concoct a plan to counter the numerically superior rebels when the protagonist arrived and suggested infiltrating Guangzong Fort via a secret route. This succeeded and they took down demonized Zhang Jiao. Sun Jian was astounded with the protagonist's abilities, and swore an oath with the protagonist.
With the Imperial Court firmly under Dong Zhuo's thumb, the lords of Guandong were finally driven to action. They gathered around Bohai's Commandery procurator, Yuan Shao, and raised their armies. Sun Jian also joined the effort, leading an army in his capacity as Changsha's Commandery procurator. His forces bravely took on Dong Zhuo's, and upon clashing with demonized soldiers at the battle of Hulaoguan Pass, they fought like lions to drive off the peerless enemy general, Lu Bu, and gain a victory for the coalition. In retreat, Dong Zhuo set Luoyang ablaze, allowing Sun Jian to enter the capital. This sequence of events reached the ears of Yu Ji, who then set his sights on the special power of the Sun lineage.
Yu Ji kidnapped Sun Jian's daughter-in-law Da Qiao as part of his plan to gain control over the powers of the Sun lineage. Sun Jian was enticed into traveling to the hostile city of Xiangyang in ling Province, where he infiltrated the city alone to rescue Da Qiao. Refusing Yu Ji's offer of returning her in exchange for his cooperation, he was struck by elixir-laced arrows and turned into a demon. He was defeated by the protagonist, and, while returning to human form in his final moments, he expressed his wishes to his sons Sun Ce and Sun Quan. The two brothers swore to live up to the family legacy, to avenge their father, and to see through their goal of achieving dominion over the land.
